StoryStudio Screenwriting Instructor Does Repo

Danny Kravitz has been teaching screenwriting for us for several years. In addition to being from my hometown, Danny is always coming in with updates like he was out in LA for a pitchfest or his screenplay got optioned. He’s always so nonchalant about these things that I now quiz him every time I see him on what’s new.

The latest news is that Danny has been doing a lot of commercial work and recently one of those commercials won an Emmy! And now, he’s been named head writer for a reality show called “Operation Repo” on TruTV (currently in its eighth season, but he’ll be working on seasons nine and ten). It’s a fictionalized show with a reality feel so Danny has to develop new mini-dramas for each episode. Then the cast and crew go out and shoot the script that Danny’s written.

This makes me realize that the amount of potential opportunities for writers has escalated in recent years with video and storytelling online, all the new cable TV channels and yes, even reality television needs a story! Some of these projects may not make it to the history books, or line our pockets with gold, but small or large--every project demands the best of our skill and imagination. Every day you’re putting something down on paper/screen, it counts!

Congrats Danny! (Oh, and remember to pay the car loan...)

(We did tell you that our other screenwriting expert, Chad Gervich, is currently working on the Wanda Sykes show, right?)
