Creative Writing, Creative Parties

We are all creative beings, despite what some may think. I’ve had students say to me, “I’m not creative at all,” to which I respond, “I don’t buy it. Tell me what you like to do.” Cooking a meal, writing a postcard, or even reading a book, is a creative act. As a natural part of our existence, we must create something at some time.

Writing has always been my first love. I find it, though, a bit of a solitary pursuit. So when I want company around, I entertain. It’s delightful pastime, and it works like meditation. (Crazy busy meditation, I know, but it works) Dinner parties, large parties, or a meal for two--it gives me great joy to make some food, find the right place setting or make some cupcakes with homemade icing to share with friends.

Recently I was asked to write for the Chicago Examiner Online as the Party Planning Examiner. I’m thrilled to combine my two loves into one outlet. Read my party planning tips at: http://www.examiner.com/x-405-Chicago-Party-Planning-Examiner. Party on, Chicago!
