Edgewood Arts, a non-profit organization located in Savannah, Georgia, is looking for a writer for its fall residency. The residency offers a unique opportunity to live in the Edgewood house, a spacious home overlooking one of Savannah’s most famous parks, from September 4th to December 18th.
Two writers will be selected for this opportunity. Writers will hold weekly group critiques with program directors, as well as participate as teachers in Edgewood’s Storyboard program for middle school children. No teaching experience is necessary, as Edgewood Arts provides training and tested curricula. The organization’s goal is to encourage young writers to involve themselves in their communities, as well as to allow writers to hone their craft while teaching it to a younger generation.
The deadline to apply for the fall residency is July 3, 2009. Applications are accepted in poetry, fiction, screenwriting, playwriting, and creative nonfiction. Application materials, and more information about the program, are available at http://www.edgewoodarts.org.
