I sometimes feel like I could use a vacation…

I always hated Leap Years when I was a kid.  In my young mind, it meant one more day of school, and you’ve got to admit, grammar school can be pretty terrible.

But now that I’m older, I’m thankful for that one extra day in February.  Because March is already upon us.  The school year’s that much closer to being over.  And boy do I have a lot to get done.

I’ve got new chapters to get to my advisors.  For some reason, no matter how much I work, there’s always more.  And jeez look at the size of my reading pile.  I could use a vacation – not to get away from my work, but to take it with me and get it done in some peace and quiet.

I’m jealous of StoryStudio’s Writer’s Retreat.  As a poor and under-funded student, I can’t really afford to go.  But the thought of having some space, the time to lock myself away and get some work done – it’s enviable.

So all you people getting ready to go on the Retreat – tell us what you’re planning to work on!  Is it that story you’ve had locked away for months, the one you’ve been meaning to get around to all winter.  Or that next chapter in your novel?
