Ice Box Press, the new chapbook press housed at the School of the Art Institute MFAW program (and co-founded by StoryStudio staffer Liz), is hosting a reading at Quimby’s bookstore on January 23 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Here’s the line-up:
Poet Ryan Pendell will be reading from his chapbook, “Say To These Bones, Live!,” available now from Ice Box Press. Employing lyrical abandon, Pendell’s poetry combines elements of childhood daydreams and philosophic discourse.
Tara G. Walker is a poet fascinated by word games and the visual possibilities of language. Her chapbook, “Sewn Into the Nest,” will be released by Ice Box in February.
E. C. Messer’s chapbook, “Gastrobestiary,” is a prix fixe of several courses, all of them animal—some animals which are, some animals which aren’t, but all of which are delicious! It’s not alphabetical, but guaranteed delectable. Gastrobestiary is likewise launching in February.
Check out Quimby’s website for more details. Quimby’s is located at 1328 N Damen, not far from the Damen blue line stop. Support independent bookstores and publishers! We hope to see you there!
