Narrative Magazine’s 2008 Fall Fiction Contest

Another place to submit your work!  First prize is $3,000, which would make all the sleepless nights, long hours of staring at a blank computer screen, snide comments from your parents about getting a “real job,” times when you ripped through that first draft wondering just who wrote those paragraphs—surely not you—perhaps a chimp with a drinking problem got into your studio… and all the other agonies of writing totally worth it, wouldn’t it?  Or at least pay off that credit card bill from the weekend you decided that if you were going to be a writer, you should live like a writer, and went off on a Fitzgeraldian spree…
