New Color and Art at the Studio

If you’ve been to the studio anytime in the last three months you know how the energy of the art made the space even more alive and nurturing. Margaret Kennedy’s watercolor paintings injected such warmth and thoughtfulness into the studio. I’m completely attached to these paintings and see them go with a sad heart. Most of them were sold although I think we’ll be lucky enough to keep a few still gracing our walls.

But just when I was getting sad at saying goodbye, I was perked up with our new art installation, ”Daily Paintings,” by Jeff Stevenson. Jeff set a specific task for himself and the work is a meditation on color and time.

imageJeff’s process for these paintings was really reminiscent of the writing process and in fact he’s going to be joining us for an artist talk on the notion of drafts and just plain old artistic output for its own sake. We’ll let you know details on that soon.

We’re having an opening for Daily Paintings this Friday from 7pm to 9pm so come on by, peruse the art and soak up the atmosphere.
