New journal announcement/ call for submissions

Hi everyone:

I’m the poetry editor of a new journal, and I’d like to invite Story Studio folks to submit.  Here’s our announcement blurb that I completely cribbed from our fiction editor:

Please check out Requited’s first issue here.

Requited is a bi-annual journal dedicated to publishing new writing, visual art, and sound.  The first issue is now available online and features the work of Christine Hume, Joshua Marie Wilkinson, Sara Levine, Emily Anderson, Ira S. Murfin, Brendan Healy, Robin Morrissey, Kathleen Andersen, Nicholas Hayes, Andrew Breen, Rebbecca Brown, Jenny Boully, Danielle Aquiline, Philip Dawkins, Sara Wainscott and Dayana Stetco.

Upcoming readings and exhibits will be announced on the Requited Journal page and website.  We have opened submissions for the Winter Issue, already in progress.

Requited seeks work that is non-traditional and hybrid—work unafraid of soldering together some genres, or heating ideas up in a smoke stack, beating concepts with hammers to create something metal and jointed, which may or may not make hot-dogs or assist you in ironing clothes.  Sometimes its creaking may sound like the breaking of ice. (Or this may be an impression, which makes you and the audience simultaneously experience melancholia, as if you were 7 again and jealous.) If deconstructed, prospective work might provide insight into manufacturing bombs.* But, certainly, the work will conjure a 3-D image as if the viewer held two cards, one of Blake and the other an iPod, aloft in front of a stereopticon and said, ‘Oh! Damn! New!’.  And, also, Requited is open to anything else you can think of.

*note to the government: no real bombs were created in the writing of this blurb.  - hvc
