The Center for Book and Paper Arts at Columbia College has the original manuscript of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” on display until November 26.
If case you don’t know the story, Kerouac wrote “On the Road” in about three weeks, taping together sheet after sheet of paper so he could write uninterrupted. The result is the famous 120-foot long scroll.
Whatever your personal feelings about the Beats, the “On the Road” scroll is worth seeing. The Center for Book and Paper Arts is located at 1104 South Wabash, 2nd Floor. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
