To Writers who Write but didn’t Write as much as they Wanted to Write this Summer

If you’re like me, you probably had great plans for your writing this summer. Long, slow, lazy days just ripe for letting the mind wander and hearing the character voices you keep bottled inside. But July was busier than you thought. And besides, August still lay ahead. And nothing really happens in August, right?

But then August came and went and that “staycation” you were relying on for recuperation and writing was filled with everything but.

HAVE NO FEAR, THE FALL TERM IS HERE!

For those of you who have been writing awhile and think a “class” isn’t the right place for you at this stage in your writing, then consider taking advantage of the hybrid classes+workshops at the studio. Whether you’re looking for self-imposed deadlines, great instruction and feedback, or even want to begin building a network of writers to connect with, one of these groups might be a great fit for you

Why Join a Workshop (And What if I want Something Else?)
There are a lot of writers out there who don’t like to share their work, or don’t care for the opinions of others too early in the writing process. And there are writers who feel a bit isolated and welcome the feedback, not to mention the opportunity to read other manuscripts and develop analytic skills.

It’s important to understand your own writing process so you pick the best type of workshop or writing community to further your own writing projects. Remember, it’s all about what works for you!

At StoryStudio, there are a number of different workshops and each one works a little differently. Most are really hybrids of classes+workshopping so while you’re getting feedback on your own work, you’re also delving deeper into those craft issues that can vex us. We also have some options that don’t fit into any category. Take a look and ask questions.

It’s a lot to take in and think about. So call us 773.477.7710.

Better yet, log in to Cooler and write your comments about what you want from a workshop. Tell us the good and the bad.

Most of all, make us want to say no to that picnic invitation to go somewhere and write!
